ABOUT US

Welcome to Lozziwoo, the retail side of Jacqueline Garner Design Handmade Cards.

Jacqueline started her card company, originally called Black Cat Cards, over 20 years ago, working from her home studio and selling to independent card shops throughout the country.

In 2010 she opened her first high street shop in Poynton, Cheshire, moving her studio there too. The name changed to Lozziwoo (her daughter's nickname) to reflect the growth of the business and the inclusion of carefully sourced, affordable gifts. At the same time, she stopped supplying other shops so her designs were exclusively available at Lozziwoo Poynton. Shortly after she launched a small online shop, selling a handful of her cards for posting out.

Since then the business has grown considerably, including a move into a larger shop in 2014 (still in Poynton, just further down the road). To reflect this growth came the newer identity as a Boutique. Today, the gift side is still grounded in providing a stylish, unique, beautiful, and affordable range, but with a shift of emphasis to carefully sourcing British design and British-made. That sourcing includes ethical and ecological considerations. Her website and online shop were also revamped to reflect these changes.

What hasn't changed in all these years is the passion for illustration and design that Jacqueline excels in, with inspiration aplenty to constantly create new designs. She prides herself on the breadth of her range, covering many life events other shops simply don't cater to. Jacqueline still personally handmakes all the cards sold in the Boutique and online in the studio located at the rear of the Poynton Boutique, and can usually be seen in there making her cards as you wander around.

In addition to her unique designs, another aspect that has always set Lozziwoo apart from other card shops is that every card has a consideration for space where thoughtful messages are hand-written by Jacqueline on the front. In the Boutique, all the cards contain a hand-written message, but with space for you to request a personalised message to be added on the front should you wish. All the cards you see in the online shop show a message as an example, but the difference is they are completely blank so you can specify your own personalised message, making it a truly unique card.

Jacqueline says; "It is this philosophy of offering unique cards and thoughtful gifts that sees our customers return again and again. We're also blessed to be where we are. So many high streets are bland copies of themselves - you could be in any town or city. Poynton is different, with many independent shops, cafes, and restaurants; it has a real buzz. And with free parking, what's not to love!"

"Whether you are selecting a card and a gift for a loved one, a friend, or someone special (or even a gift for yourself), or something amazing for your home, when you take a look around our Boutique, we hope you will feel truly inspired."

To allow Jacqueline time to concentrate on designing, illustrating & making cards, and sourcing new gifts, she realised a long time ago she couldn't do all that and run a business at the same time, she needed some help. In 2018 she found Amanda. With plenty of retail experience under her belt at John Lewis and a warm, friendly outlook and approach to customer care, she has been a fantastic addition to the Boutique. If you're struggling with ideas for cards or gifts, Amanda can help you find what you're looking for. When not looking after customers, she can be found keeping everything shipshape.

In addition to Amanda is Richard Jackson, Jacqueline's husband. He can be found in the Boutique every Friday helping with the accounts and maintaining this website. Richard's main job though is photo restoration, which he does from home the rest of the week. When not looking after their two very demanding dogs!
